Jailbreak Apple TV 2 (Tethered) on iOS 4.3 using Seas0nPass

The creator of Seas0nPass, Firecore has been updated their tool in order to support a tethered jailbreak of a new Apple TV 4.2 with iOS 4.3 software installed. This Seas0nPass also allows iOS device user to jailbreak atv2 with its latest 4.2 software by creating Apple TV IPSW files and restores them in the iTunes, exactly the same features that the existing PwnageTool have. This also includes “tethered boot” option.

You can get the source code of this app on Github since this app is an open source and of course free to download. As of now this tool is available for Mac only with a version of OSX 10.6 or higher but a version for Windows will be released sooner.

Firecore said that aTV Flash (black) Beta3 is compatible with iOS 4.3 for most of its part, however you may see few oddities with text entry screens in plugins just like the Couch Surfer and nitoTV, but this is a minor problem only and it will be fix sooner.

2. Download Seas0nPass click here »
3. Prepare your micro USB cable (This is very important to complete jailbreal)

Jailbreaking Steps
Step 1: Extract/Unzip “Seas0nPass.zip” file that you’ve recently downloaded and launch it as well.

Step 2: If you haven’t perform yet jailbroken your AppleTV simply select “Create IPSW” or you already jailbroken, you just need to do a “Tethered boot”.

Step 3: The newest version of AppleTV software will be downloaded and used to create custom “jailbroken” software file.

Step 4: Connect your AppleTV using your micro-USB cable you’ve recently prepared and hold both “MENU” and “PLAY/PAUSE” button for about 7-9 seconds.

Step 5: Automatically iTunes will open and starts to restoration process.

Step 6: iTunes will confirm as the restoration completed, your AppleTV has now jailbroken. See the “Tethered boot” section you can see below.

Seas0nPass for “tethered boot”

As you finished to jailbreak your atv on your iOS 4.3 using the Seas0nPass, your device requires tethered boot. It means it is required to be connected to a computer for a brief moment during startup. (You must have to disconnect your Apple TV from the computer, after restoring in iTunes for the tethered boot process below to work it properly)

Step 1: Open your Seas0nPass and choose “Boot Tethered” option from it.

Step 2: Connect the AppleTV to your computer via USB when prompted and just wait for the flashing light and connect the power. When both are now connected, hold both the “MENU” as well as the “PLAY/PAUSE” buttons for about 7-9 seconds.
